Sania speaks at FAO’s webinar on “Ensuring Human Rights to Adequate Food for Sustainable Food Systems”

Feb 9, 2021: SAPM Dr. Sania Nishtar was invited as a panellist at a webinar on ensuring human rights to adequate food for sustainable food systems. The event highlighted emerging issues during the COVID-19 pandemic showing profound linkages between plant protection, food safety, health, climate change, gender and capacity development for women, biodiversity and adequate standards of living. The panel explored best practices and provided policy recommendations to better connect key dimensions of the right to adequate food. Other experts on the panel were Hans Hoogeveen, Permanent Representative of the Netherlands to the UN Organizations for Food and Agriculture; Gabriel Ferrero, Director General of Sustainable Development Policies of Spain; Michael Fakhri, Professor at the University of Oregon School of Law and Elsa Simoes, Alternate Permanent Representative of Cabo Verde to the UN Organizations for Food and Agriculture.
