Another intervention of social protection undertaken by BISP is Group Life Insurance, which covers the breadwinner of the family. BISP has successfully launched the Group Life Insurance Scheme for BISP beneficiaries, to cover the breadwinner of the family with effect from 1st of January 2011. This type of economic shelter is being given first time in the history of Pakistan by any Government.
Under this scheme, the dependents (widows/mothers/children) of deceased are be compensated for Rs. 100,000/- in case of natural or accidental death of the breadwinner.
The Scheme shall be compulsory for all breadwinners of BISP enrolled with BISP having valid CNICs.
The Scheme would cover the breadwinner of all eligible members from the age of 18 to 65 years in case of males and from age of 18 to 70 years in case of females.
BISP has enrolled 3.78 million breadwinners (78% Male) under BISP Group Life Insurance Scheme.
For Three Years w.e.f 1st Jan 2012 to 31st Dec 2014.
Sate Life will be responsible for issuing insurance certificate to the enrolled breadwinner at their addresses provided by BISP.
